Utah Spartan Trifecta to Feature U.S. Navy “Extra Mile” - THIS WEEKEND
Local Navy Enlistees Set to Compete
Spartan, the world's leading endurance and obstacle course racing brand, and its lead sponsor, the U.S. Navy, will feature the “Extra Mile presented by the U.S. Navy,” during this weekend’s Utah Spartan Trifecta events, June 11-12, at the Snowbasin Ski Resort in Huntsville, UT.
Integrated as an optional extension of the racecourse, the “Extra Mile” is designed to test an athlete's willingness to go beyond the expected – physically and mentally – after already conquering the core race. More than just added distance, the “Extra Mile” represents a defining moment on course, where athletes make a conscious decision to exceed the standard, embodying the Navy's core principle of pushing past limits in pursuit of excellence.
In addition to the “Extra Mile” integration, the Navy will feature a pull-up bar challenge and a reaction drill test for attendees, and members of the Navy’s Special Operations teams, the most elite warfighters in the world, will compete in the various Spartan events throughout the weekend.
“The Spartan ‘Extra Mile’ reflects exactly the kind of mindset we look for in the U.S. Navy,” said Rear Admiral James P. Waters, Commander, U.S. Navy Recruiting Command. “It’s the willingness to keep moving forward when things get difficult, to push beyond expectations, and to choose challenge over comfort. Our Navy is Forged by the Sea, and built by people who refuse to quit when the mission gets hard.”
