ATTENTION: TRUTH IN TAXATION NOTICES
Published to Preserve Ogden Valley City’s Rights During Pending Appeal 25 July 2026 Ogden Valley City is publishing two Truth in Taxation (TNT) notices in this issue of The Ogden Valley News. These notices were generated while a court order was in place temporarily allowing the City to participate in the TNT system. That order has since been vacated. The City has appealed the district court's decision to the Utah Supreme Court and has requested expedited review and interim relief. The City has also requested that the Supreme Court retain the appeal because it presents an important statewide question regarding the authority of administrative agencies to impose requirements not enacted by the Legislature. The City is publishing the notices to preserve the record of its compliance efforts pending review by the Utah Supreme Court. Property owners will shortly receive the County’s 2026 Notice of Property Valuation and Tax Changes, one line of which pertains to taxes for municipal services, called “Uninicorp Services Fund (OVC).” This presupposes that Ogden Valley City will receive this line item as a revenue share from Weber County instead of assessing its own tax. If the City is successful on its appeal, this line will not be collected by Weber County, and the tax will be assessed through Ogden Valley City through participation in TNT. Instructions for virtual participation, including the virtual meeting link and procedures for submitting written comments before and during the hearing, will be available at ogdenvalley.gov at least 24 hours before the hearing. Publication of these notices is not intended to waive any position asserted by the City in the pending appeal or to concede the validity of the district court's order. |
