The residents of Ogden Valley owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the firefighters, paramedics, leadership, and support personnel of the Weber Fire District for their extraordinary work containing and extinguishing the Middle Fork Fire. Their professionalism, dedication, long hours, and unwavering commitment to protecting lives, homes, property, and our beautiful valley were on full display throughout this incident.
Wildfire season has arrived, and all indications suggest this summer could be an active one. Every resident has a responsibility to do their part to prevent fires from starting in the first place. We can all contribute by following fire restrictions, properly extinguishing campfires, maintaining defensible space around our homes, and exercising caution with equipment and activities that could spark a fire.
While prevention must be our first line of defense, the Middle Fork Fire reminded us that when fire does break out, we are fortunate to have the Weber Fire District standing ready to respond. Their skill, training, and sacrifice provide a level of protection and peace of mind that is difficult to measure but deeply appreciated.
