Weber Wildlife Shooting Range Refurbished During Local Eagle Scout Project

The Weber Wildlife Shooting Range temporarily closed its gates on May 2 to undergo a series of facility refurbishments led by the valley's only Scouting America troop.

The community service initiative served as an Eagle Scout project for Hunter Liddell, the oldest scout in Troop 129. After consulting with community leaders to identify local needs, Liddell organized the effort to improve the shooting range in pursuit of the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) program.

A total of 29 volunteers turned out to help with the community project. Working together, the group completed several key improvements to the facility, including:

• Shooting Bench Upgrades: Installing new carpet on the shooting benches.
• Grounds Maintenance: Removing weeds and re-leveling the gravel near the shooting rests.
• Site Cleanup: Conducting a massive litter pickup across the range.

Weber Wildlife Federation President Ryan Gaz also assisted with the community initiative. Following the event, Troop 129 expressed gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in the service project.

With the refurbishments complete, the public is encouraged to utilize the updated range. The facility is located on Avon Pass Road in Liberty, approximately three miles north of 4100 N. For those interested in visiting, annual passes can be purchased locally at the Valley Market.

Moving forward, organizers are inviting all range users to adopt the scout practice of "leave no trace" by ensuring they take their used targets home with them.
