Ogden Valley Parks Board: New Members and Leadership Updates
8 May 2026
The Ogden Valley Parks Service Area Board has entered 2026 with several leadership changes and plans for an actual bathroom at Eden Park! In February 2026, Emily Phillips was elected by the board to serve as Chair following the resignation of Tim Brown in December. Suzanne Shaw was appointed as Vice Chair after Greg Graves stepped down from his position. In addition, Lon Childs resigned from his role as Treasurer, resulting in two open seats on the board.
These vacancies were posted through the Weber County Commissioners’ Office; there were six applicants and Jori Torman and Thomas Keefer were selected and appointed to fill the positions. The board welcomes their experience and looks forward to their contributions.
Looking ahead, an important and exciting transition is on the horizon. Beginning in 2027, as a fully incorporated district, all future board positions will be filled through public elections. The board is currently working with legal counsel to establish district boundaries and ensure all procedures are in place prior to the election cycle. As board members’ terms expire, those seats will be opened to the public, and current members will have the opportunity to seek re-election.
In project news, the board is pleased to announce that a RAMP (Recreation, Arts, Museums, and Parks) grant has been approved for fully plumbed restroom facilities at Eden Park. The board is currently preparing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for construction bids and is awaiting completion of the required permitting and moratorium period, estimated at three months.
The board has established a regular meeting schedule on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings have changed location to be held at the Huntsville Community Center, with a Zoom option available for those who wish to attend remotely. Agendas and meeting materials can be accessed through the state’s public notice website. https://www.utah.gov/pmn.
As spring arrives and summer approaches, the board encourages residents to get outside, enjoy the parks, and participate in shaping their future. Residents are invited to attend meetings and share their input on park needs, improvements, and priorities during the public comment time offered at every open meeting. Comments are limited to 2 minutes per person.
