OVC Launches Recruitment for First Part-Time City Administrator Position

Ogden Valley City is seeking to appoint its first city administrator. The city has posted a recruitment ad seeking qualified applicants for the part-time role, the first concrete step in standing up the new organizational structure the City Council approved at its July 30 meeting, which established the administrator as the city's day-to-day operational leader.
The administrator will report directly to Mayor Janet Wampler, overseeing daily operations and coordinating administrative services. Reflecting the city's early stage and its reliance on outside professionals for planning, permitting and engineering, the position is structured as a part-time contract role capped at no more than 20 hours a week; the council prefers to fill the job on a contract basis rather than as a payrolled employee.
Applications are due Friday, Aug. 28. Interested candidates should direct inquiries and submit resumes to Councilmember Kay Hoogland at [email protected]. Applicants open to a contract arrangement, rather than employment, are especially encouraged to apply.
According to the job posting, the administrator will oversee the city's contractors, volunteer staff and general operations across three divisions: Community Development; Public Works and Engineering; and Administration and Shared Services.
The city is looking for an experienced strategist with hands-on municipal operations experience and a strong working knowledge of Utah municipal law and administrative practice. A background in start-up city environments or in law would be a significant advantage given OVC's early operational phase. The role also calls for someone who works well with the mayor, elected officers, contract staff and volunteers, and who is comfortable with technology — proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience deploying IT solutions for modern government services are both listed as requirements.
Mayor Wampler said several experienced municipal administrators have already reached out to express interest in the position, an early response the council sees as encouraging as it works to build out its administrative foundation.
