Majority Doesn’t Count, Democracy Optional

Does it matter what our elected officials think, should their opinions count, should their biases be a part of the discussions. We elected our “local” officials to listen, to represent and to be directed by our input. Sadly, the majority has been silenced again, input has been ignored, elected officials, despite our letters, poles, and conversations have deemed themselves to be wiser than their constituents, but why? Was this an elaborate hoax to change the dialogue, deflect the emphasis away from new policies and procedures that basically mirror the old Weber County constructs? The main reason for incorporating was because Weber County had a vision for our valley which was not the same as the residents who live here. Our input was rejected time after time in their public meetings, which led to drastic changes and frustration as we watched control being gifted to special interests groups that had the money to pay. They were given free rein over the wishes of the residents of this Valley. So, is this how we are going to proceed? Only one of our five council members acted in accordance with the majority. How can we trust elected officials who do not follow the consensus of a majority and interpret their own judgements as “what it should be.” So, carry on Mayor…., As a 5th generation Edenite you should know that we have ONLY been known as “Ogden Valley” to residents who do not live here.
