​Community Dig Days Invite Volunteers to Help Build Liberty Park Pump Track

The Ogden Valley Parks Service Area (OVPSA) invites residents to roll up their sleeves and help build a new community bike track at Liberty Park during our final Community Dig Days on Saturday, July 25.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate beginning at 7:00 a.m., with opportunities to help throughout the day. Community members will assist with shaping and compacting the dirt features that will become the new bike track.

The project was approved by the OVPSA Board during its June 29, 2026, public meeting after discussion about improving underutilized areas of Liberty Park, expanding recreation opportunities for residents and in-kind donation offer from Mitchell Benjamin at Flatworx Contracting to help move dirt. The pump track will transform an unused area of the park into a community asset through volunteer efforts and donations.

The location has long been identified as a potential recreation area as Liberty Park evolves over time, making it a natural location for a bike-focused amenity while preserving flexibility for future park improvements.

Designed specifically for BMX and mountain bikes, the pump track is intended to provide a fun and accessible place for riders of all ages and skill levels to develop their bike handling skills. Motorized bicycles and motorcycles are not permitted.  For everyone's safety, the track should not be ridden until construction is complete and signs are posted, as equipment and unfinished features may create hazardous conditions.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring:

• Shovels
• Rakes
• Compactors
• Tampers

The first 25 volunteers will receive a complimentary breakfast burrito courtesy of Chick-fil-A Riverdale.

The OVPSA Pump Track Project is made possible through the support of Flatworx Contracting, Chick-fil-A Riverdale, Ogden Valley Builders, and numerous community volunteers.
