Ogden Valley City Council Formally Adopts Official Vision Statement

The Ogden Valley City Council unanimously passed Resolution 2026-46 during its special meeting at the Huntsville Town Hall Thursday, July 30, establishing the official vision statement for the municipality.
Mayor Janet Wampler recognized valley residents Christine Williams and Kim Wheatley for guiding the council through the process of crafting the document, which began months prior when local candidates met to outline long-term goals for the city.
The officially adopted Ogden Valley City Vision Statement reads:
Our Valley is a community shaped by its land and strengthened by its people.
We honor our history, our pioneering spirit, and our agricultural heritage.
We protect our natural resources, open lands, dark skies, wildlife, clean air and water.
We guide growth that is in harmony with the valley and blends sustainability with development.
We lead ethically with transparency, accountability, uncompromising integrity, and constant respect for people.
We connect our community with user-friendly technology and personal support, making it easy for all residents to access city services and be included in the community.
We welcome all who come to the valley to experience its beauty, recreation, and warm spirit.
We preserve this legacy for generations to come.
Following the reading of the statement, Councilmember Don Hickman made the motion to approve Resolution 2026-46, which was seconded by Councilmember Chad Booth.
Reflecting on the importance of the document, Councilmember Chad Booth expressed that establishing a clear vision is critical for the future of the entire community, stating, "bringing this vision together and having it stand for something, I think, is super important for us to go forward." He noted that the statement is meant to resonate with residents across all areas of the valley, adding, "you need a vision statement that you don't six don't just understand well, but everybody does. That everyone can pick parts of it out, and it's something that resounds to them, and they believe in it."
The motion passed unanimously in a roll call vote, with Councilmembers Don Hickman, Chad Booth, Tia Shaw, Kay Hoogland, and Peggy Dooling-Baker all voting aye.
