​CFOV Celebrates 2026 Kick Off with Local Nonprofits

Community Foundation of Ogden Valley (CFOV) held their annual kick off celebration at Wolf Creek on March 18. Seventeen local nonprofits were approved for partnership with the Community Foundation for 2026. The event provided an opportunity for the Foundation and local nonprofit partners to share plans for the coming year and celebrate the variety of services provided to Valley residents and visitors.

A brand new nonprofit was added to the fold this year: Weber Interscholastic Cycling Association. This new nonprofit supports the Weber Mountain Bike Team and is open to students in grades 7-12. Their mission is to foster a lifelong love of cycling while developing essential life skills like perseverance, teamwork, and respect. They believe that every student athlete deserves to ride, learn and grow and provide the resources, funding and development opportunities necessary.

Other highlights from CFOV’s partners included:

• Ogden Valley Tennis and Pickleball will host weekly clinics for adults and kids beginning in June (check out their schedule at ogdenvalleyrec.com).
• Ogden Nordic kept ski and snowshoeing trails open and available for 4 weeks in North Fork Park over the winter despite challenges from Mother Nature. A new base camp building was also constructed to serve outdoor enthusiasts for years to come.
• Mountain Arts and Music celebrated 18 months in their Huntsville art space and continue to showcase local artists and host concerts. A Spring Break Art Camp for local kids will be offered beginning on March 31.
• Eden Valley Trails announced they will be doubling their trail building crew to include a total of 6 people to meet their goal of building 10 miles of new single-track trails each year.
• Snowbasin Sports Education Foundation continues to use matching funds from the Community Foundation’s to sponsor kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate in their racing and education programs. They have also been actively collaborating with Ogden Adaptive to host the Bradley Cup/Ski Race for skiers with physical disabilities.
• Boy Scouts Crossroads of the West expects to host 9,000 kids for camps over 6 weeks this Summer at Camp Browning and Camp Kiesel!
• Ogden Valley Land Trust has plans to add 130 acres of open space to their existing 8,000+ acres currently held as open space in perpetuity. Funds raised by CFOV help them pay for the legal and ongoing administrative costs for management of the easements on these lands.
• Friends of Mount Ogden provide training and education for ski patrollers, dogs and dog handlers. They also use funds to aid and support our rescue community in times of hardship – funds that were particularly needed in this difficult ski season.
• Backcountry Horsemen is working to build a shelter over the corrals they recently rebuilt and expanded in North Fork Park. They will also be hosting a youth camp from June 18-21.
• Trails Foundation of Northern Utah is partnering with the Forrest Service to support the Adopt-A-Trail program to keep our local trails clean and safe. They are also launching a 5 K race series beginning on April 9 for trail users of all levels.
• Ogden Adaptive provided over 550 lessons over the winter and is looking forward to expanded summer programming on Pineview Reservoir to support their mission to make the outdoors accessible for everyone.
• Wolf Creek Foundation continues to host weekend retreats for military families faced with the challenges surrounding deployment. Programs to help the spouses and children—as well as those being deployed—are offered several times throughout the year. Their first program in 2026 will be held in late April.
• Snowcrest PTO faces unique challenges associated with their school having the smallest student population in all of Utah! Funding is largely dependent on per pupil spending, so the families with kids at Snowcrest are asked to pitch in to provide adequate supplies for teachers. Without this additional support, teachers are forced to buy supplies using their own monies.
• Valley Elementary has partnered with Mountain Arts and Music to help fill the gap in arts and music education for their students. They also work with the community to sponsor a STEM Day focused on introducing students to activities and ultimately careers in science, technology, engineering and math. The event this year will take place May 12.
• Ogden Valley Recreation is launching a new website funded in part by a grant from the Community Foundation. This website will centralize registration for local activities for kids and adults. They will also host a Valley Play Day on May 29 – look for more details soon!
• Ogden Avalanche hosted education events throughout the winter including avalanche courses for women and specialized training for snowmobiles. Even in this low snow year, Utah lost 3 souls to avalanches. Ogden Avalanche is committed to educating our community on how to minimize risk.

 
CFOV is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to provide funding and visibility for the amazing nonprofit organizations who serve this Valley. Funds raised are donated annually to these nonprofits through a matching-fund program. CFOV “matches” funds raised by these nonprofits—up to $5,000 per organization in 2025. These funds not only help with the ongoing operation of these vital community organizations but also serve as required match dollars for additional grants, including Weber County RAMP grants.

CFOV also provides grants to local nonprofit partners and awarded $75,000 in 2025. The CFOV is actively seeking partners to help fund both the matching program and sponsor Grants for specific projects.
