UDOT to Close Ogden Canyon for Sunday Maintenance Work
By The Ogden Valley News Staff – Updated 24 September 2026, 12:19 p.m.
A UDOT closure will shut down Ogden Canyon (SR-39) to all through traffic on Sunday, September 27, 2026, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Roadway officials are routing all canyon thru traffic to either the North Ogden Divide or Trappers Loop to accommodate the maintenance schedule.
Crews will utilize the temporary closure to repair potholes and trim trees throughout the entire length of the canyon. Operating without the standard flow of traffic allows these teams to position heavy equipment directly in the roadway to complete the necessary pavement repairs and vegetation management.
Residents living in Ogden Canyon will maintain access to their properties from either end of the route. Locals navigating the area must travel with extreme caution as workers will be actively operating on the road. While residents should expect delays during their commute, UDOT has instructed work crews to move their equipment and allow local traffic to pass as quickly as possible.
