Ogden Valley Agriculture Advisory Committee Update & Public Invitation
24 April 2026
The Ogden Valley Agriculture Advisory Committee (AAC) continues to take shape as a collaborative, community-driven effort focused on supporting the long-term viability of agriculture in the Valley while helping inform City Council and Planning Commission discussions.
At the Committee’s April 9 meeting, members reviewed and discussed the AAC’s mission, emphasizing protection of working lands, water systems, and the economic sustainability of local farms and ranches. Neil Bailey was selected as Co-Chair, joining District 5 Councilman Don Hickman. The meeting also included introductions of committee members and strong participation from Valley residents, with community attendance roughly matching committee representation. Other Committee members include Chris Argyle, Dave Castillo, Glenn Croydon, Dan Dailey, Iain Hueton, Colton Leatherow, Bryan Roberts and Kelly Wangsgard.
The AAC is currently organized into three primary subcommittees:
As the City’s current planning and policy workload stabilizes, additional subcommittees will be formed and staffed to address specific topics in greater depth.
The Committee is actively seeking community input and welcomes additional volunteers. This effort is grounded in local knowledge, practical experience, and a shared commitment to keeping agriculture strong in Ogden Valley.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ogden Valley Branch Library in Huntsville.

The AAC is currently organized into three primary subcommittees:
- Land Use, Zoning & Ordinances (Chair: Ty Lopshire): Focused on agricultural zoning, land use policy, and development standards that support and sustain working farmland.
- Irrigation & Water Systems (Chair: Abe Wangsgard): Focused on supporting awareness, communication, and shared understanding of existing irrigation systems and water rights. This group is working closely with ditch companies, water users, and landowners to ensure that long-standing practices are respected. The intent is not to consolidate systems or impose new controls, but to help preserve and strengthen what already works well in the Valley.
- Education, Outreach & Agricultural Development (Chair: Glen Croydon): Focused on community education and awareness—helping new residents understand the realities of rural living alongside active farms and ranches, improving awareness within the real estate community about irrigation systems and property rights, and supporting local food systems, agritourism, and agricultural economic vitality.
As the City’s current planning and policy workload stabilizes, additional subcommittees will be formed and staffed to address specific topics in greater depth.
